The Cary Farm Drop News

July 31, 2023

Hello Cary Friends!

We have some news, and a proposal for you...

Drop News:

Currently we have had a decrease in Cary orders due to customers' various personal reasons/schedule conflicts. As you know, we reduced our drop dates to every-other-month, and now for the remainder of summer/early fall, we will not be doing any Cary Drops. We have essentially terminated the drop in its present format.

Now for the Proposal:

Due to the costs involved in bringing our products directly to any of our Farm Drop areas, we are in need of at least 5 families to commit to purchase every month. We have successfully done this in Wake Forest, and are hopeful that the same can be achieved in Cary!! :D Wake Forest started a year ago under a Coordinator who keeps in contact with ALL the drop customers. If one customer cannot order, they do their best to make sure at least 1 friend is ordering in their place, or they ask a participating friend to pickup their order for them if they happen to be out of town or unable to pickup.

Here is what that could look like for Cary:

1) 5 or more Families: We would need each of you to reach out to your friends who may want to order with us, so we can reach the minimum of 5 families who are able to commit. We would LOVE to see this grow to 10, 15 or more participants/families!

No, you wouldn't have to sign any papers....This would be a commitment in good faith.

2) Order minimum: Nope, there will be NO order minimum! This means you/your friends could get a large beef box one month, and 1 package of beef sausage links the next...it won't matter to us, its about keeping this Farm Drop alive, and GROWING.

3) A Coordinator: We would LOVE to have a Cary Farm Drop Coordinator. This person would be responsible for emailing or texting all the families who have committed to order every month, to remind them to get their orders in the week prior to the Farm Drop.

This person would receive perks from us for their role, in the form of beef in the cut of their choice for a value of approx $20 every month. If in the future they could not fulfil their role, they would agree to help us find/secure a replacement and give us at least 1 month's notice AND the list of contacts (Email and/or Text #s).

4) Date/Time: We would continue to meet the first Sunday of each month, but would like to bump the time to being 4pm-4:30pm pickup. We would be willing to bump this to 3rd or 4th Sunday, IF that would secure more participants.

Please think/pray about this proposal, and let us know if you would like to participate as a "Drop Participant" or a possible "Drop Coordinator".

If we can get this going, we would like to launch it November 5th!

If we are unable to establish this drop with these requirements successfully by the end of August, we will announce again to formally close the Cary Farm Drop permanently and move on to the next chapter for our farm in serving communities locally as well as in the Triangle (Wake Forest and Durham).

Thank you for being faithful to support our farm and our family these past 3 years! You are a blessing, and we are hopeful for the future for us and our children.

Sincerely,

 Jonathan & Heather Hawkins
